Graticule spatial orientation is not only the key point but also the important point in high school geography teaching and it is important for students to study and understand the basic knowledge such as the distribution of the climate and regional division. This thesis bases on the research object of four classes in Xiongyue High School, use the research method of available literature, collecting data and questionnaire survey to evaluate and summarize the use of graticule spatial orientation, the application present condition and influential factors. At the same time, it conducts the qualitative and quantitative analysis of graticule spatial orientation teaching. The results show that:(1) Graticule spatial orientation mainly applies to estimate the time lag and the direct sunlight point in the third section of the first chapter and the study of climate distribution law in the third section of the second chapter in the first volume of high school geography(required); the distribution of the agricultural region in the second volume of high school geography(required); the partition of regions in the third volume of high school geography(required); the partition of the longitude and latitude of the continents of the world geography and the geography things passed by the important longitude and latitude in regional geography; the scope of China’s longitude and latitude and the location of the important geography things.(2) The overall situation of the graticule spatial orientation application of grade 2 in Xiongyue High School is: the level of the graticule spatial orientation application is relatively low; the level of the graticule spatial orientation application is different that mainly shows that the level shows that the level of the graticule spatial orientation application of the students in the key classes is higher than the students in the ordinary classes; the level of the graticule spatial orientation application of boys is higher than girls.The main factors that influence the level of the graticule spatial orientation application are: the individual difference of students in the extent of basic geographical knowledge; the students generally don’t cultivate a good habit of reading pictures; the effect of students’ gender; the difference of teachers’ teaching methods in key and ordinary classes that influence the level of the graticule spatial orientation application of students.(3) Through the study of the graticule spatial orientation, the ability of reading picture of the graticule, the habit of reading pictures and the geographical sense of the graticule spatial orientation of the grade 2 students in Xiongyue High School have improved. The test scores show that after the review of the graticule spatial orientation, the average scores raise 12.9 equally in the four classes, of which the proportion of students with above 80 raised 8%, the proportion of students in 60-80 raised 8%, the proportion of students in 40-60 declined 5.6%, the proportion of students declined 12.2%.
