Swimming course in general colleges and universities of our country set up the status quo is not optimistic, Although some universities have swimming pools, But for fear of an accident, there is no open swimming class in the school situation exists. Southwest university of science and technology leading to attach great importance to cultivate college students learn swimming skills in line with "all learn to swim, all grasp swimming" concept, starting in 2000 for open swimming required courses on various aspects of preparation, after ten years of unremitting efforts, Since 2010, in the school(including 14 college) comprehensive open swimming compulsory courses, create conditions for students to learn the water survival skills. In this context, it is necessary to southwest university of science and technology open swimming the present situation of the compulsory courses for further investigation and study, summarizes its experience, analyzes its existing problems and put forward feasible Suggestions. Its purpose is to better provides the theory basis for open swimming required courses, also safe to open swimming required courses provide a reference for other colleges and universities. This research for the university and other colleges and universities better open swimming lessons provide reference has a certain practical significance.This article uses the literature material method, questionnaire survey method,field survey method, interview method, mathematical statistics, logic analysis, open swimming the present situation of the compulsory course in southwest university of science and technology as the research object.
