Achievement motivation refers to the work that has great significance for theirown and the drive toward success. It can prompt people to pursue a higher targetunder a condition of society and help to reach the goal, especially encouragepeople to pursue the success and avoid failure. Nowadays, most students’achievement motivations are lower and lower in the good economic environment.In fact, some junior high school students have strong ability on various aspects, butbecause of the low level of achievement motivation, they don’t have enoughenthusiasm and interest. Junior middle school is the important stage of students’mental health development, and their spirits are not fully established, so they needto be guided more to help them establish the correct values of life and properachievement motivation level. Therefore, how to adjust and mobilize the students’achievement motivation has become a notable problem.This study attempts to adopt the method of group guidance to effectivelyinspire and discuss the better ways of students’ achievement motivation. Muchresearch has confirmed that achievement motivation has important influence onstudents’ academic performance as an important part of the students’ subjectiveinitiative. This study uses Ye Renmin’s "Achievement Motivation Scale" as the toolto evaluate a junior high school students in Jinan, selecting62students of low levelachievement motivation and randomly divided them into experimental group(intervention group) and control group.In this study, we choose Ausubel’s Achievement Motivation Theory as thecounseling instruction of our group design, considering the characteristics of thejunior middle school students to research their external motivation. We use thegroup guidance technology for eight times, once a week and45minutes each time.The experimental group (intervention group) students are examined by systematictraining and intervention, while the control group are left untreated. After8timesgroup guidance, we reuse the "Achievement Motivation Scale" to study theexperimental group (intervention group) and control group, using SPSS13.0 software for data management and statistical analysis. We also use the T test toanalyze the influence of group guidance to the experimental group students.Following conclusions are drawn from above investigation:1. Achievement motivation group guidance has obvious positive effect to theachievement motive level of experimental group (intervention group), but theeffect and degree of influence is different in different dimensions,.2. Achievement motivation group guidance is one of the effective ways toimprove the level of achievement motivation in junior high school students.What the teachers’ words and deeds should be about positive evaluation forstudents and more attention to their behaviors. Therefore, it will be better to arousepositive emotions of students, and help improve students’ achievement motivation.Junior high school students are in individual growth. When teachers give properguidance and consistent praise to the students according to their characteristics,students will grow better within teachers’ expectations.Second, teachers shouldtake good use of student model.Student model is a very good way to encouragestudents to get better and give them more achievement motivation.Also teachersshould pay attention to the positive expectations of individuals and cultivatestudents for their reasonable position. Teachers’ unconditional positive attention tothe students and good expectation to the future will affect students pursuit forachievement.If every effort that students give can be expected to achievesatisfactory results, it will make students more confident and able to affirmself-worth and it’s better for them to achieve their next target and to form apersonal achievement motivation.Finally, teachers should pay attention to cultivatevirtuous circle of students.Students who performed better in all aspects of theirgrowth targets will be more confident and eager for success more.In this way,achievement motivation will be relatively strong. Strong achievement motivation,successful experience will encourage students to be more active to learnknowledge and to achieve better results as well as keep a virtuous circle. Thisgroup counseling program has improved students achievement motivation levels and also can be used more in the future.After constant revision, it can provideeffective reference for the study of junior middle school students achievementmotivation.
