The log is a way of self-expression with a long history. Excellent teachers, ancient andmodern, Chinese and foreign, often use this means to record their thoughts and feelings and theirdaily educational practice. With the wide application of the Internet, individualized means ofexpression such as blog and micro-blog are more and more popular, among which onlineeducational logs have become an important platform for teachers to share their gains andreflection. I am one of those teachers. Since2012, when I worked as a head teacher of GradeOne, I have been keeping The Diary of a Little Snail. Furthermore, I have made it my Master’sDegree research theme---the role the educational log has played in teachers’ self-development.In this study, the education log is published in the blog platform, which takes the form ofnarrative to record some fresh and thought-provoking stories, teachers’ personal experience andinspiration in their daily life.As we all know, the educational log is of distinct use and worth to the development ofteachers. But referring to previous research findings in the field of education log for teachers’development, the author has found that there is much more theoretical research than practiceresearch, not to mention the research on educational logs for teachers’ self-development. So thispaper will deal with the key role the educational log has played in teachers’ self-developmentbased on my experience, which involves the cognition of the educational log and theunderstanding of the teachers’ self development, recording my true life stories and pursuit in twoyears expressed by means of educational logs. In a way, the paper deals with how to use theeducational log and records the author’s insistence and gives an interpret on its part in adjustingteachers’ attitudes, promoting teachers’ mutual assistance, unifying parents’ education conceptsand driving progress of the whole class… In a word, it highlights the difference that log writingand sharing has made in teachers’ self-development. The author has also reflected on herprevious work, which is not only beneficial to the log writing of the next stage, but also canprovide independent thoughts on how to promote teacher’s self-development.Due to the diversity of teachers’ personalities and working environment, this thesis maynot be universal. However, the research aims can be achieved if the paper can serve as areference or be shared with other teachers to enrich teachers’ professional development andpromote their awareness of participation and self-development.
