An Analysis Of Retirement Age In China And Its Countermeasures

With the development of social economy, health care and education in ourcountry, people’s expected life are extended and the aging population are increased.Therefore, as the Chinese society began to enter the aging society in2000, theproblem of delay the retirement age has been proposed on the government’s agenda.During the the period of18ththird plenary session, the vice minister of human socialsecurity department Hu Xiaoyi mentioned that the retirement age delay proposalshould be investigated and applied gradually.Both the domestic and foreign scholarshave conducted researches on this problem.Based on the background of domestic andabroad and insist on the principle that proceed from the national conditions of ourcountry, the development of current retirement system of our country and the analysisof existing problems should draw lessons from foreign advanced experience. At thesame time, domestic researchers should analyze the necessity and feasibility of delayretirement age, and thus find the right way of thinking and scheme of delay retirementage in China.First of all, this paper introduce the topic background, significance and researchstatus on domestic and abroad. In addition, the adjustment process of our country’sretirement system and the problems existing in the current retirement system wereanalyzed.Secondly, this section investigated the related factors influencing the retirementage in China. It is analyzed the demand of raising retirement age from aspects as thelife expectancy, the balance of labor pension supply and demand, the number ofeducational year and the balance of old-age pension. Moreover, the research frominternational background are introduced to prove the the necessity and feasibility ofdelay retirement age in China from both domestic and foreign aspect.Finally, as a starting point of personalized and flexible principle, this article hasdesigned a programme based on the Chinese current situation and then put forwardreasonable suggestions on the corresponding auxiliary measures.
