Recently the number of Chinese primary school and middle school students studying abroad has been on the increase year by year, but their age has been on the decrease. On one hand "eagerness to studying abroad" reflects the enormous economic achievements since the reform and opening policy in China, and on the other hand, it shows the problems existing in our domestic basic education, such as heavy study burden, shortage of educational resources and heavy pressure to enter a higher level school. With the increase of the number of Chinese primary school and middle school students studying abroad and the decrease of their age, the problems of our domestic waste of educational resources, the losses of the education funds and talents and younger students’difficult situations abroad have been of great concern. This study focuses on Dalian primary school and middle school students studying abroad as the research object. Through a questionnaire survey and interviews, the paper makes a detailed study of the purpose for their studying abroad, their study plan, and their life planning. It summarizes the main reasons for studying abroad from the respective of society, education and family. Finally, in view of the problems to be caused by the present situation of the increase of the number of Chinese primary school and middle school students studying abroad and the decrease of their age, the paper puts forward some measures and suggestions from different perspectives. This study is of great practical significance and theoretical value.
