In the information society, knowledge economy and the era of globalization, education is becoming the decisive factor in the prosperity of country and the well-being of people. Human Resources has become the most important strategic resource. Educational equity is the aim of education development and important prerequisite for building a socialist harmonious society. From a personal point of view, education is a necessary way of individual " upward mobility", the education level determines the level of the beginning of his career and height. And the years of education is obviously affected by a person’s family background, that is to say, if the parents are well educated then the offspring will have a great chance to receive higher education, namely the saying goes : "Like father, like son." From a macro point of view, education is fundamental for national development, the development of Chinese education is inseparable from improving education welfare system. So far educational equity is particularly urgent attention.This thesis, with six chapters, presents a systematic and comprehensive analysis on the problem of the fairness of the education in China.(1)In the first chapter, the background and intention are discussed. the main methodology, perspectives and approach of the present study are introduced;(2)In the second chapter, the concept of the fairness,the fairness of education, is explained. The study summarizes the existing research on the unfairness of education and also introduces the theoretical basis.(3)In the third chapter, we comb the educational unfairness of China. The Chinese government take different measures on education based on its development needs: Populism to elitism; Education in “Culture Revolution”;Order out of chaos on education; New contradictions within the education.(4)The fourth chapter, using microscopic survey data, empirically analyze the influence of family factors on the education unfairness. The gap between urban and rural areas, gender differences is obvious. Eliminating the education differences between urban and rural areas, between different regions, achieving educational equity is absolutely unrealistic and unscientific, But the fairness of education chance is to ensure the flow of social stratums, and also is one of the necessary conditions to realize the benign development.(5) The fifth chapter focuses on the impact of education benefits to the educational equity.Government departments should increase the investment in social welfare system of education. to ensure the fairness of the Compulsory education, to improve the welfare of higher education. And a further development of high school education and welfare, will make our country’s education more equitable. The sixth chapter is insufficient research and findings.
