A Study On The Development Of CIO System In American Universities

This paper uses the bibliometric method to analyze the literature about CIO Institution from the following aspects: paper amounts, periodical distributions,author distributions etc., finding the research directions and aims of this paper. Chapter one, with the methods of literature and comparative analysis, this paper discusses the CIO in the CIO Institution in American colleges and universities from the following aspects: education background; age; title;analysis of roles; responsibility;and quality. the CIO was understood at all aspects of the CIO Institution. In Chapter two,with the case analysis method, this paper discusses three representative CIO models in colleges and universities:Classic CIO Institution model in UC Berkeley; Assistive CIO Institution model in the university of Chicago; CIO Institution model reformed IT departments into DOIT of Madison, which makes our colleges and universities more effective recognize the CIO Institution in colleges and universities in the United States.In Chapter three, this paper introduced the CIO roles definition, CIO selection, training,the responsibility and quality in the CIO Institution. Taking into account the problems of colleges and universities informationize in our country, we can realize that the CIO Institution of colleges and universities having Chinese characteristics is a feasible option.
