At present, the world’s developed countries and regions are actively promoting and implementing a new round of the basic education curriculum reform, in order to adapt to more challenge in the future. In many of the basic education curriculum reform, the mathematics is a very important part of them. It is well known that the textbook is an important resource of realizing the goal of the course, and it is the main basic of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. Mathematics textbook, as the direct text materials, play a decisive role in the teaching of mathematics in primary schools.In order to further promote the development of the new curriculum reform, I’ll make a detailed comparison with the best present textbooks of Mathematics Textbooks between China and other countries. Grasping the international development trend of mathematics textbook, absorbing the international advanced experience of textbook compilation, which will have important realistic meanings to the Mathematics curriculum reform and the development of the mathematics education of our country.Japan is China’s neighbors, belongs to the Asian cultural circle. Because of the historical influence, China and Japan has a lot of similarities in common with mathematics education. So the textbooks and curriculum of mathematics between these two countries have great comparability. In this paper, taking mathematics textbooks for the primary school of SHE(Shanghai Education)edition of China and The small school arithmetic edition of Japan for example, the presentation comparison of the two versions is text comparative study. In order to clear similarities and differences between the two versions of mathematics textbooks for the primary school,and to know their presentation feature. This study reflects and puts forward some proposals on the basis of analyzing differences and characteristics to provide reference for the compilation of mathematics textbooks for the primary school in China.The full text is divided into five parts:The first part: mainly elaborated the research object, purpose and significance of this topic, research ideas and research methods. The main research methods of this paper are the methods of document analysis and comparative method.The second part: explain the research status at home and abroad and make a comment on the related situation.The third part: the research of Japanese textbook. Mainly through the structure,knowledge, narrative style and format of Japanese mathematics textbook that presents four different ways for the comparative study, summed up the advantages and disadvantages in the elementary school mathematics textbooks.The fourth part: classification based approach presented in textbooks. Mainly to solve the problem from the mathematical rules and presentation, including presentation style, examples, exercises,and pointed out that their respective characteristics.The fifth part: conclusion and suggestion. By comparison with the Japanese primary school mathematics textbooks, it is not difficult to find that China textbooks in the new curriculum reform are now changing the outlook of Chinese curriculum.The study found that: Both the Chinese and Japanese’s textbooks emphasize the consistency and curriculum standard; the graphic format, color is rich; words expression diversified; separate section; focus on the creation of problem solving situation; pay attention to the students’ previous knowledge and ability; make thinking and exploring space for learners. However, they also have a lot of differences.Their Plate columns and the versions of the program are different. The text book’s cover image of Japan can’t link and mathematical knowledge, but the number of color images is far more than that of SHE. SHE’ s advanced knowledge is higher than that of Japan, but the activities of solving the problems which relates to the knowledge of mathematical is less wider than that of Japan.Based on the research, to learn the advanced experience from the united states on the mathematics textbook presentation, for our country elementary school mathematics textbook presentation optimization, Suggestions are as follows:(1)The presenting mathematics textbook knowledge and words should meet the following:1、age;2、mathematical;3、interesting;4、problem solving;(2)improving the design of the framework;(3)strengthening the content of‘Statistics and Probability’.
