It points out in “Compulsory education mathematics curriculum standards(2011 edition)” that the evaluation of mathematics education should pay attention to students’ mathematical thinking, problem solving ability and the evaluation of students’ learning process, which focus on the emotional attitude of students’ performance in math activities, and lay emphasis on the diversification of evaluation subjects and evaluation methods. Therefore, how to evaluate students’ learning process and result comprehensively and objectively shows appraisal development function will become the trend of the development of education evaluation. Performance assessment(thereinafter called “PA”) as a new evaluation method, it abandons the traditional evaluation model which is oriented by results, and it pays more attention to the evaluation of students’ learning process, and can evaluate students’ learning process and result comparative comprehensively and objectively. Consequently, it promotes the development of the students and reflects the evaluation function of the "development". Therefore, PA conforms to evaluation idea of the new mathematics curriculum standard in our country; it is an integral part of the current mathematics teaching evaluation methods.This paper adopts action and evolution research based on comprehensive study and integration external PA’s modes and methods, principia and application. The action research lasts over half a year in R primary school. During action research, we collectively design the mode and methods of primary mathematics PA in practice by cooperate with math teachers of R school. We design complete PA’s solutions and then preliminary test and adjust them in order to modify PA’s scoring rules in more detail and fully implement the modified solutions. We collect and exhibit students’ works and analysis it in depth. By analyzing and rethinking the process and result in the action research, we summarize PA’s value for teachers and students; and we propose valid suggestions for PA’s implementation. It provides operationally guides and practical evidences for further research in expanding the variety of teaching and learning in the process of exploiting lower primary mathematics PA.This paper divided into five chapters: The first chapter introduces the research methods of this study, the origin, purpose and significance and function, domestic and foreign literature reviewed is also summarized. The second chapter illustrates the theory and content,compares PA with traditional evaluation, summarizes PA’s advantages and disadvantages, and expounds PA’s design principle and concrete steps. The third chapter elaborates on the performance evaluation of the implementation of the specific steps, which is the preparation and implementation of action research. The fourth chapter analyzes the results of PA’s action in depth. The last chapter illuminates the value that results of PA’s action brings to students and teachers, and puts forward some suggestions of effectively implementing PA in practice.
