The new technological revolution has led to dramatic changes in the needs oftalents in our society. As a result, competition for employment has become more andmore serious and especially the structural unemployment is getting worse. Thetraditional development model of the Chinese secondary vocational schools cannotmeet the requirements of the economic and social development of China. Thequestion “where is the developing direction of secondary vocational schools inChina” arouses our concerns. The State Council of China pointed out in Decision forPromoting Vocational Education in China issued in October2005that “it is a must toestablish the model of cooperation between colleges and enterprises in China, puttheory into practice, strengthen the connection with factories and enterprises, improvethe students’ social practice and wok ability, and make practical reform on thetraditional school-centered and class-oriented model”. This decision offers a new ideato secondary vocational schools in Yunnan Province. The cooperation betweencolleges and enterprises in china has emerged at the right moment. Theimplementation of the Gateway Strategy of Developing Yunnan has provided manyopportunities to the education development in Yunnan Province. With thisbackground, there is much guiding significance to study the cooperation betweencolleges and enterprises in China. This thesis is a case study of Yunnan College ofArts and Crafts and focuses on the discussion of the cooperation between collegesand enterprises in five aspects.The first chapter is the introduction which summarizes the research background,the basic research concept, the related literature review, the purpose and significanceof the research, the research approaches and the self-assessment of the research.The second chapter discusses the current situation and achievements concerningthe cooperation between colleges and enterprises against the background of theimplementation of the Gateway Strategy of Developing Yunnan.The third chapter gives a case study of Yunnan College of Arts and Crafts andanalyzes the current cooperation between colleges and enterprises. In view of thisbackground, this chapter discusses the related problems of cooperation in Yunnan College of Arts and Crafts and expounds the causes in three aspects, which includethe lack of motivation mechanism and institutional guarantee, poor initiative of theenterprises, superficial or “once-for-all” cooperation between colleges and enterprises,etc..The forth chapter summarizes the successful experience of the cooperationbetween Chinese colleges and enterprises and analyzes the developing strategies ofthe secondary vocational schools in China for cooperation in this aspect from theaspects of the government, enterprises and colleges..The fifth chapter discusses the model of the domestic cooperation betweencolleges and enterprises, expounds the guiding principles and establishes a practicalmodel of cooperation between colleges and enterprises with a consideration of thefeatures of Yunnan College of Arts and Crafts.
