Strong character of the youth leads to a strong country, stable life for the elder leads to the stability of a country and the family. Education for the aged is an important and also the last part of lifelong education. The development of the aged education makes the aged lifelong learners, makes it possible for the aged to be taught and to learn something according to their own interests and also makes the aged live a pleasurable life in their declining years, which not only benefits the stable development of the society, but also contributes a lot to the establishment of a happy and harmonious familyThis article mainly uses the theory of lifelong education, social participation and other relevent theories as guidance. On the basis of reading considerable number of documents, I have designed targeted questionnaires and outlines, deepen into the educational institutions for the aged in Zhengzhou using respective identities as a student and an intern to make an on-site inspection of the current situation of the aged and the aged education. The study finds that with the development of nearly30years, education for the aged has made certain progress, some outstanding issues still exist at the same time. Among them are lack of publicity, imperfection of the management system, deficiency of the policy making, shortage of financial investment and less attention paid by the government, the filthy environment and poor teaching faculties due to lack of funds, the irrational age structure, strong fluidity of personnel, lack of talents for scientific research due to unscientific personnel management system, dull form of education, the incomprehensiveness of curriculum, unreasonable arrangement of courses and shortage of aged-specialized materials due to the unprofessional teaching management. The family and the aged themselves also have problems in paying enough attention to education for the aged. Besides, children are not showing the support that their parents deserve to further their education. The three major issues above from the perspective of the government, school and the family itself have, to some extent, constrained the development of the aged education in Henan Province represented by Zhengzhou. At the end of the article, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward accordingly from the aspect of the government, school and the family on the basis of drawing on the excellent experience of the aged education from home and abroad. In order to solve the major problems of the aged education, the government should increase the financial input and make greater efforts at publicity, straighten the management system and formulate policies and regulations in terms of education for the aged. Schools should improve the operating conditions, better the teaching faculties, promote innovation in teaching form and enrich the learning content. As for the aged, they themselves should establish the ideology that one is never too old to learn, and the family members should show them positive support and give them the help they need.
