In order to adapt the important measures of the New Curriculum Reform andemphasize a student-oriented teaching method, transforming traditional teachingmodel, this thesis is based on the teaching practice of middle-school geographyinquiry learning, discussing the middle-school geography inquiry learning methodwith the related teaching theory such as Pedagogy, Psychology, EducationalPsychology, Teaching Methodology and Geography Teaching Methodology. Theauthor put forward to the importance of the middle-school geography inquiry learningmethod in teaching by taking the hometown high school as subject, organizing thestudents there to learn in class under the local circumstances.Innovating the Ideas of Geography Inquiry LearningThe traditional geography teaching is a kind of teacher-oriented; students in classare always listening to the teacher passively, therefore, the communication betweenteacher and students and students’ enthusiasm for learning geography to some extentis constrained in the process of teaching and learning. So it is meaningful to teachgeography with the inquiry learning method.Transforming the Geography Teaching MethodOn the background of New Curriculum Reform, which emphasizes one of itsimportant goals is to transform students’ learning method and encourage students topractice the inquiry learning. Based on the situation of our education, most of theteaching organizations are still the traditional class teaching system. Then, how doesthe spirit of reform transform the teaching class and could the position of studentsubject come true? All these need a geography teacher pay more attention to theteaching method of learning in class. Combined with the curriculum reform ideas, tolook for more resource and innovate geography teaching becomes urgently.Building an Independent and Lively Class AtmosphereThe classroom teaching should be lively and active. It will be good for theclassroom teaching if the teacher draws attention to the students’ life and learning,giving more encouragement to them and creating more mutual activities betweenthem. During the teaching, the process of only learning new knowledge withoutthinking and feeling is passive and tired for students. Therefore, it is use building anindependent thought for students.The author think that it is effective to improve the quality of geography teaching according to transform teaching idea and method, build students’ self-confident andcreate a thinking model of learning and inquiring positively.
