Contemporary poetry is now calling for a personalized reading. This article is based on the existing research of personalized education.contemporary poetry teaching experience in high school as well as related education theory, educational psychology and literary theory.This paper describes the reasons for high school teaching contemporary poetry requiring personalized reading,and how to use personalized teaching methods to guide the study of contemporary poetry in high school.This thesis is composed of introduction, body and conclusion.The body of paper is divided into four parts. The first chapter analyzes the theory and background of contemporary poetry and personalized reading instruction such as the Constructivist Learning Theory, Multiple Intelligences Theory,Reception Aesthetics as well as Horizon of expectations Theory. This chapter mainly interprets the connotation of personalization reading teaching, which means that students are the main part of the class while teachers’ instruction provides the necessary support for the personalized development of students. It emphasizes that based on the right values, students should be allowed to give full play to their autonomy. Teachers should make students deal with an unprocessed text and launch independent thinking activities and construct affective experience. The second chapter analyzes the high school teaching status quo of the modern and contemporary poetry. At first, it simply introduces the development and changes of the modern and contemporary poetry. Then, it analyzes the status quo of the modern and contemporary poetry teaching from four aspects including teaching material, teachers, students as well as appraisal to find out the crux. The third chapter introduces strategies for the personalization reading teaching of the modern and contemporary poetry, which elaborates how to carry on the individualized teaching on the text of the modern and contemporary poetry from four aspects consisting of teaching aims, teaching principles, classroom teaching methods as well as teaching design respectively. The fourth chapter evaluates, analyzes and designs the teaching cases. This chapter will combine theory with practice, look for shining points of personalization reading teaching from the famous teachers’ teaching cases, absorb the existing experience and reflect on the teaching practice considering the deficiencies of that. Texts are selected from the current high school Chinese textbooks to carry out the teaching design, based on the concept of personalization reading teaching.
