Since1980s, with our country’s urbanization continuously speeding up, more and morerural surplus labor force flows into cities, which contributes greatly to China’s economicconstruction. However, on the other hand this can lead to separation between rural migrantworkers and their children for a long time. A large number of migrant workers’ children are leftbehind in the countryside, thus creating a special group called left-behind children.In recent years, there is a substantial increase in the number of rural left-behind children,causing a lot of problems accordingly, the most serious one of which concerns the education ofleft-behind children. This thesis mainly focuses on the education problem related withleft-behind children in terms of family, school and society through methods of comparativeanalysis, literature analysis and relating theory with practice. This paper first provides thedefinition of rural left-behind children and the education of them and then introduces theresearch scope of the thesis. Second, the thesis thoroughly explores the causes of theunderdeveloped education concerning rural left-behind children, which leads to the conclusionthat various factors contribute to the underdeveloped education. Then the thesis concentrates onthe three main factors, that is, problems from family, school, and society.(family: uncaringparents and backward insights for education; schools: shortages of education resource and lackof various education methods, etc; society: the underdeveloped economy in the rural area and thedisadvantages of the urban-rural dualistic structure.) thesis proposes specific solutionsaccording to the analysis of reasons for this problem. And in reality this part is the core part ofthis paper. In this part, this thesis elaborates on some effective solutions including highlightingthe family education and school education, negotiating the influence on education from all walksof society, and strengthening the government’s humanistic care and so on. Also family concretemeasures are expounded, including the change of education insights, paying attention tochildren’s all-round development, changing the way of communication. For the improvement ofschool education, the following aspects are mainly discussed including improving educationfacilities in rural schools and strengthening the establishment of boarding schools whereas in thecoordination of the role of all walks of society, the thesis thoroughly explores how to strengthenthe supervision of public opinion, how to build a supporting network system and how toconstruct volunteer teams, etc. Finally, to solve problems with rural left-behind children’seducation fundamentally, the thesis emphasizes and centers on the importance of thegovernment’s top-level design which includes speeding up the economic development of ruralareas, improving laws and regulations and enhancing rural governments’ executive ability. Theissue of rural left-behind children is inevitable in the process of modernization. Whether or not a nation can handle the issue well not only concerns the vital interests of hundreds of millions ofmigrant workers, but also influences the realization of building a well-off society in an all-roundway. Moreover, it relates to the construction of a harmonious society, and it is more about thegreat rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, that is, the Chinese Dream. The author hopes that thisthesis can provide a new way of thinking on the solution of the issue.
