Thanks to the opportunity of being a volunteer in Thailand,the author applies the methods of interview,observation,comparative analysis,combining with her own teaching experience in order to describe the status quo of Chinese teaching in Kanlayanawat School of Khon Kaen.She analyzes the existing problems in the school’s Chinese teaching, and tries to put forward some suggestions and strategies to improve such kind of situation.Firstly, this paper briefly described Thailand’s education system as a whole and the development of Chinese teaching in Thailand, introducing its situation of Chinese teaching from the aspects of curriculum provision, the sources of Chinese teachers; Secondly, the author analyzes the existing problems in the school’s Chinese teaching from five aspects:the school management,teaching material selection, Chinese testing and evaluation, teachers and students; Then the author tries to propose solutions to these problems by suggesting that the school should strengthen the management of Chinese teaching; select appropriate teaching materials; set up reasonable curriculum so as to establish a scientific system for its Chinese testing and evaluation. The author also mentions that teachers should enhance their own qualification and improve the teaching methods to stimulate students’interest in learning Chinese.At last,the author summaries and reflects the shortcomings of the thesis, hoping it can help improve the situation of Chinese teaching in Kanlayanawat School, and promoting the popularization of Chinese teaching in Thailand.
