The reasonable complete education should be the trinity of family life, schoollife and social life. The contemporary education extended throughout one’s life intime and extended to all the society in space. This kind of idea demands the school,family and society united with each other and function respectively, that is topenetrate, promote and coordinate mutually. The teachers and parents discuss andcommunicate about the related questions on the growth of children and children’sfamily and they should establish corporation relation with psychological organization,entertainment institution and family association. During this process, thefamily-school corporation is the important way to establish the new type educationalmodel. So far, the American parent-teacher association that has more than onehundred years history could set a good example for propelling the Americanfamily-school corporation and safeguarding the rights of children.Our nation pays more attention on family education and advocates the schooleducation; however, it always lacks the mature family-school corporation organization.Therefore, it has significance for the rapid development of the family-schoolcorporation in our country to realize and use for reference on the mature methods andexperience in other countries.Through exploring the developing history of the American family-schoolcorporation as well as its organization system and its work, the studies makes asummary of the features of the American parent-teacher association for the purpose onproviding the enlightenment on development and improvement of China’sfamily-school organization system.The thesis includes four parts:The first part is the proposition of the research questions. It puts forward thebackground of the thesis, the research significance and research methods, and reviewsthe research literature and it defines the two concepts “family-school collaboration”and “parent-teacher association” on this basis above.The second part is the developed history of American parent-teacher association.It introduces the five stages of the parent-teacher association from the dawning time to the prosperous time. This paves the way for studying the organization system ofparent-teacher association and the certain work historically.The third part is the studies on the status quo of American parent-teacherassociation. The part conducts the systematic analysis of American parent-teacherassociation from two perspective of organization system and specific work.The forth part is the features of American parent-teacher association as well asthe enlightenment in China. Aiming at the status quo and the questions existing inChina, the thesis concludes the features of American parent-teacher association andimplementation, and put forward the enlightenment and suggestions to China throughthe studies of American parent-teacher association above.
