The reward is the most common way in the field of education. This research is through the empirical investigation, and takes the Nanjing H elementary school as a case. This research mainly focus on the situation of the rewards, including the ways, species and purposes of the reward, and the problems in the process of using the rewards. On the basis of these research, the investigator emphasizes on the analysis of the effects of the reward, which mainly have the positive, negative and zero incentive effects of reward. Then further study will search the reasonable and effective means to promote the students’autonomous development. The ways of the reward mainly include the implementation of school and the teachers’implementation. The awards of school contain "the four stars","the hopes of stars","the five finishing students", and "the three-good students " and "the excellent pioneers". The rewards of teachers are:the oral rewards, the honorary rewards, the substance rewards and the rewardable rewards. The species of the reward are various. According to the operating subject of the rewards, the rewards are classified into the rewards of school and the teachers’rewards; In accordance with the space of the implementation, the rewards are classified into the openness of rewards and the non-openness of the rewards; According to the specific content of rewards, classified into the spiritual rewards and the substance rewards; According to the function of rewards, the rewards are classified into the rewards of trademark dilution, the incentive rewards and the encouraging rewards; According to the time dimension, the rewards are classified into the instant rewards and the delayed rewards; In accordance with the rewards’purposes, the rewards are classified into the process rewards and the result rewards. The main purposes of rewards are to motivate the students, to create a good atmosphere, and so on. However, there certainly are some problems during the implementation of the rewards, such as the subjectivity in the process of the implementation, and this will lead to unfairness. The rewards always concentrates a handful of students, and this will reduce the enthusiasm of the majority of students, as well as increase the difficulties of teachers’transition.Reward can inspire students, and have some effective controlling, and set up a model, and so on. In addition, rewards also produce students’target dislocation, the dependence of personality, the mental imbalance, and the paradoxical effect. Moreover, there is the third situation-the zero effect of rewards. Rewards will pall on students. The reasonable and effective application of rewards can create positive functions, but when rewards are improperly or unreasonably implemented, they will damage students’healthy growth. This phenomenon requires teachers’ great attention. Rewards should be based on the needs of students, and fit students’ interests, and enhance students’ self-fulfillment, and keep reflecting the rewards to promote the self-development of students. |
