With the continuous development of the new curriculum reform, people have realized that national curriculum doesn’t work out as expected, whereas school-based curriculum, as an effective supplement to the former, has attracted more attention and thus become widely accepted. What becomes the focus of the curriculum reform is to break the single system of national curriculum reform and develop school-based curriculum in an creative manner. Based on the curriculum reform and students individual differences in development, schools all fully mine and use school education resources and develop their own school-based curriculum actively. By doing this, schools can expand the education space to the maximum, and promote the student individuality development in the positive direction, as well as help teachers improve their professional level, thus gradually forming their unique way of running a school.This paper deals with how a geography teacher can develop school-based curriculum with geographic features in an creative way on the basis of his or her former experience and knowledge acquired after learning the theory of the past, which refers to school-based curriculum development and local geography teaching. This paper focuses on the practical research and concerns about the practical application of theory. By combing the practice in my school’s geography curriculum development and presenting the process, I will put forward some strategies on the school-based curriculum development.I will discuss the issue in the following two aspects to make the paper more systematic. One is from the perspective of the basic definition and theory of geography curriculum development and the other is based on the practice of my school names Jiangsu Jingjiang High School, where there are large quantities of practical cases have been used to investigate how to develop geography curriculum.
