Considering actual conditions demand in China that a large population with limited environmental resource and the target of promoting the level of development, ability, quality of the whole country, the government has to attach importance to the big cities and super big cities as a example to link with other cities and foster a new growth pole. Since the reform and opening up, we are facing a great number of problems like the rapid expansion of city scale, growing number of population, backward environmental infrastructure construction and declining urban ecology with high development in the aspects of economy and society in our super big cities. All these above have made great threaten to the city ecological environment, as well as, the resource environment. As a result, ecological crisis is regarded as one of the biggest threats to the urban development. Shanghai hosting Expo 2010, as one of the super big cities, is supposed to explore a success road with Chinese characteristic in the vision of ecological civilization.By exploring Chinese traditional way of ecological thoughts, we can learn from the history, which is a good reference now and in the future. This has empirical significance for reconsidering the relationship between human, ecology and society. And it takes positive effect on cultivating our view of the world, value and practice.In our world today, the ecological philosophy of Marxism, which is the basis of the construction of Chinese socialism modernization and civilization, is the only ideological weapon to lead people to eliminate environmental crisis and to build up ecological civilizations.In this passage, we will talk about the theory of social-organism, theory of human natural character and the dialectical relationship between human and nature, in order to analyze the crux of environmental crisis and then to find a solution. The basic thought of Marxism ecological view plays a guiding role in building our country's ecological civilization. Ecological civilization consists of both spiritual and material civilization. It is the ethics bases on sustainable development between human and the environment. By means of setting up a sustainable consumption and production, the ecological civilization will make a fundamental change in human society. We should be aware the ecological problem is, in essence, a problem in economy development and consumption structure. The adjustment between human and the living space——the city ecological system is a must to realize the sustainable development. Thus the ecological civilization will emphasize on the construction of ecological cities. An ecological city requires a reasonable layout of production, resource and productivity. By methods of the research and introduction of new technology to save power, decrease wastes, recycling and anti-contamination, we can utilize our resources effectively and adjust the economy and ecology to a sustainable circle in the chain of production, circulation and consumption.There come great number of problems of scale excess, populace extension, traffic crowd, environmental contamination, scarcity of resources, inconvenience in living, low spirit and so on, due to the too fast speed in 30 years open reform. Cities are now facing the humanistic and ecological crisis, which results from huge waste of resources, demotion of living condition, increase of financial cost and then the loss of the city competition to others. In the prospect of ecological civilization, if we reconsider the living conditions in big cities in our country, we can see that in the process of industrialization and modernization, Shanghai is facing the environmental problems just as what the developed countries were. The passage offers conclusion that Shanghai should step on the way by adjusting population, society, economy, resources and environment. This way of ecological construction is necessary to the sustainable development in Shanghai. In addition, according to the requirement of ecological city construction, Shanghai is still facing some serious problems of how to adjust resource, production, populace and city space structure, how to control the environmental contamination and city structure and how to improve ecological quality.In this paper, Shanghai, hosting Expo 2010, is supposed to create a model of ecological urban as a super big city for our country.It's necessary to consider world view of Marxism and ecological holism as a method of research. Under the circumstances of China's economy more in line with international practice, we will further improve the quality of people's life and the quality of environment by referring to some successful cases in establishing ecological city all over the world. There're five aspects of building ecological city which owns healthy ecological system, safety ecological pattern, efficient city economy, and harmonious social system. First of all, it is necessary to attach importance to the city planning, city scale as well as urban and rural structure. In addition, the policy makers have to think highly of circular economy, technical innovation and energy conservation and emission reduction. Furthermore, the government is supposed to change the way of economic developing, improving infrastructural construction and innovating management system of urban. Fourthly, the whole society is encouraged to strengthen the awareness of ecological consciousness and advocate a green and healthy life. Most important of all, our civil servants ought to set a high value on the study of detailing ecological construction index, implementing new policy of using lower carbon to establishing an ecological low-carbon city. All in all, we will work together to build our city into a central of international economy city and ecological urban with justice, civilized, highly economic prosperous, clean and beautiful environment, as well as a healthy ecological system.
