City Residents To Participate In Community Service Intention And Behavior

With the continuous development of reform and opening-up policy, the status and role of the community became more and more important, and whether the community construction success or not largely depends on community service. Our community service is being the stage of exploring, so there are many problems on the practice and theory needing further study. On the one hand, the contradiction between provisions of welfare theory and commercial tendency in actual operation is gradually appears; on the other hand, community service is perplexed by the shortage of resources for the government can't provide enough community service to meet the growing needs of residents, and the role of welfare that market can play is also limited, meanwhile, the insufficient development of non-governmental is also impede the development of community service. For this situation, the active participation of residents is very important for solving the bottleneck of the development of community services. Only the participation behavior of residents with heartfelt feeling autonomous can reach the real goal of achieving a harmonious community. The author combines the theoretical and empirical research methods to study the participation willingness and action in community service and discusses the problems and the influence factors in residents'participation process, then puts forward constructive views and measures by analyzing the participation willingness and action.Bases on the literature of home and abroad, in the viewing angle of rational choice theory and social identity theory, combines the survey and interview on the residents who live in Changsha Z community, and analyses the data with descriptive analysis and correlation analysis, this thesis gets the following conclusion:1) The participation willingness of the city residents is high in community service, but participation rate is low.2) Residents participate community service by the individual characteristics of their own is not large, occupation, education and other personal factors effect residents'intentional acts unclearly except age.3) The residents' participation willingness and action are mainly influenced by community identity, the interests of residents', neighborhoods and other social factors. 4) The internet influences modern communities more and more today but neighborhood relationships and community identity are still important in the hearts of residents.5) The intention of residents to participate community service affects the behavior of residents significantly.Finally, to the problems in the analyzed results, the writer propounds four suggestions in community service:interests of the community-based; the introduction of professional community workers; creating a new platform for neighborhood social capital and fostering neighborhood social capital.
