New basic education curriculum reform (hereinafter referred to as the"New Curriculum") is a systematic project.And one important part of the project is the reform of textbooks. In order to adapt to the new era and the development needs of students,the new curriculum emphasizes the changes of the methods of learning and teaching.It also take more emphasis on the ability of students to explore and innovative ability. History textbooks as the basic contents of the carrier of history curriculum, are significant in the learning and teaching. This article has researched Discovering The American Past: A Look At The Evidence , a typical history textbooks of the United States middle school.And this research will be a reference for us.This paper uses literature and comparative research methods. Through the investigation of Discovering The American Past: A Look At The Evidence, the paper pointed out: the use of the evidence is the feature, and the main content of the book are the evidence, and showed that students can study histoty through the analysis of primary sources. Not only in the layout of the textbook chapter supplies a large number of primary sources, but also in each chapter provide students with the methods of targeted guidance to help students study for analysis of the evidence. In each chapter, starting from the problem to the relevant historical background issues, to guide a targeted approach, and finally to explore the primary sources until the problems are solved.And those are the basic steps of historical inquiry. The logic of the process and standards of the National History Curriculum objectives as stipulated in the ability to access the basic requirements consistent. The third chapter, to the other three versions of history textbooks, by comparison, highlights the proper use of primary sources of the textbook for teaching. This paper concluded that a lesson we must carry out in the construction of this textbooks is the respect to the importance role of history evidences. And we should supply the textbook variety historical materials, and provide students proper methods of history analysis.
