As an important type of scientific papers of library collection, masters' dissertation is the highest wisdom of masters, which has hold a significant position for research value. It can not only reflect the research ability, innovation ability and academic level of the masters, but also reflect the development situation of a discipline and research trends, especially some new ideological trend or new ideas in the dissertations are often the milestone point of development of subject research. This study applies content analysis, comparative method and citation analysis to comprehensively analyze masters' dissertations of andragogy in Chinene mainland from the number of dissertation, the subject of research, the method of research and the situation of citation. Then, talking about the problems of masters' dissertations of andragogy in Chinene mainland by basing on the results of analysis and by comparision with the strait's. At last, some relavent suggestions are put forwards.This study consists of 5 aspects:Introduction describes the background and significance of this study, as well as related research situation at home and abroad.The first part of the body describes the research program, including research purpose and questions, research scope and limitations; research methods and processes, categories framework and standard.The second part of the body presents the progress and result of analysis of master's dissertations of andragogy in Chinene mainland. In terms of the number of dissertaions, there are 11 academies which can output master's dissertations of andragogy, the total number of dissertations accounts to 356 during 2001-2009. In terms of the research topic, there are 22 research topics, the theme of teacher education, adult learning and psychology were paid more attention. In the terms of the research methods, the research methods are used 1032 times in all dissertations, which is 2.90 times as much as the mumber of dissertations; 20 different research methods are used in all,1-7 species per dissertation, and the most number of dissertations which apply research methods is four kinds; the more common is the literature, statistical analysis, interviews and questionnaires. In the terms of citation conditions, there are 22318 citations of the 356 dissertations,62.69 citations per dissertation, the highest amount is 144 citations, the minimum amount is 21 citations,31-60 citations of dissertations is the most; foreign language citation only involves English and Japanese, English citations are 2316 (accounting for 10.38% of total citations), Japanese are only 29 citations (accounting for 0.13% of total citations), the maximum of English citations is 58, the lowest English citations is 0, the majority of master's dissertations in English citations are under 10; the rate of selt-cited articles is 7.02%, and the self-cited rate is 0.20%.The third part of the body is based on the results of the analysis of the second part and comparison situation of the both sides, the result showed that there are some problems in the master's dissertations of andragogy in Chinese mainland, including the number of dissertation, the subject of research, the method of research and the situation of citation.The fouth part of the body is relevant recommendations according to these issues:to enhance the strength of talent training; to prospect multiple research themes; to make students enhance their research capabilities.
