Online Course as an important teaching resource, is the prerequisite for practicing E-learning smoothly. Whereas, at present, learning materials are just organized by chapter sequence and knowledge points and listed by html technology in most Online Courses, which may cause inefficient knowledge organizing easily.With the development of E-learning and the enrichment of learning resource, inefficient knowledge organization is bringing more and more problems, and has aslo caused wide public concern, such as poor knowledge-sharing, inconvenient knowledge-searching as well as difficult knowledge-updating or maintaining, and so on, all these will hamper the further development of Online Course. Eficient curriculum knowledge-Organizing can be of great significance in solving above problems. This thesis will introduce ontology into knowledge-organization, and discuss the building and application of curriculum knowledge ontology from the view of optimizing cognition structure and developing learning ability. The main issues studied by this thesis are as follows:Firstly, the background, current state, objective and significance of this research were discussed. It gives the introduction of blackground by analysing current state of Online Course and explains the objective and significance by expounding the origin of this subject as well as the current state of ontologoy applicitation in E-learning area.Secondly, we discuss the theory and technology foundation of curriculum knowledge ontology-building, mainly involving knowledge-organizaing theory, learning science theory, ontologoy theory and its model building skill.Thirdly, there are some import issues deserve to be studied, such as curriculum knowledge, curriculum knowledge ontology model, curriculum knowledge ontology-building principle and method. In the beginning, we define the core concept of "curriculum knowledge"about this thesis, then classify curriculum knowledge from the view of psychology, philosophy and Medium level, after that, discuss curriculum knowledge ontology model from 3 level Including curriculumn structure, knowledge unit, knowledge point,and material. Among those levels, knowledge point ontology is core. It is necessary to design its properties and relation in detail. In the end, we propose 5 principles and 3 processes for curriculum knowledge ontology development and build the curriculum knowledge ontology of Component and structure of the computer practicly.Forthly, the application of curriculum knowledge ontology in E-learning was explored. We analyse network sharing mechanism of ontology from 3 levels which including regarding syntactic, semantic and pragmatic firstly. Then we discuss the knowledge service for E-learning from 3 aspects including "knowledge navigation, semantic expanding inquiry based on key words, knowledge point recommendation" and give the corresponding Algorithms. In the end, a prototype system was designed and developed which verify the application of curriculum knowledge ontology in E-learning.
