As a small landlocked country, Mongolia is not a powerful role in the international relations in terms of its national power and influence. But with the ending of the cold war and the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Mongolia's special position have been making it play an important role in the strategic relations between leading powers. After the cold war, the region of Northeast Asia has become more important in the whole world. Meanwhile, according toChina's peaceful rise and Russia's great power status gradually restored, the Asia-Pacific region especially Northeast Asia has become a quite important focus in the United State's global strategy. Under the new situation, Mongolia' special and important geo-strategic location in Northeast Asia cause its usual relationship with the United States.By reviewing the relation-develop between the United States and Mongolia after the cold war, the paper make a special analysis on the strategic value of Mongolia, the strategic aim of the United State and the influence to Northeast Asia cause by the development of the two countries' relations. Trough analyzing the facts, the reasons and the influence of the relationship between the United States and Mongolia, we could get a better understanding of the future trend of Northeast Asia' safe environment which plays a quite important part in maintaining the long-term peace in the region of Northeast Asia.
