Another Socialist Logic

In the history of socialism, Otto Bauer, the high priest of Austromarxism, played an important role in the development of Austrian socialism during the two wars, even as the development of Democratic Socialism in Europe. His theories of"equilibrium in the class struggle","the functions of democratic","factors of social forces","defensive force","whole socialism"were based on the analysis of both Austria and the conditions of proletarian struggle which showed us a special road to socialism with Austria characteristics.But in a long time as we all know, Otto Bauer was seen as the representative of revisionism and opportunism, whose theories was neglected and even misjudged as well as his works. We spent so little time on Bauer's idea that it doesn't match with his status on the history of the socialism. This thesis tried to work out the logic of Bauer's idea of socialism, combined with the situation of Austria and background of the socialist movement at that time, analyzed his major theories and its characteristics in details.This thesis found that the Otto Bauer's idea of socialism was characterised primarily by the unity of practical policy and revolutionary zeal which also made it different from other types of socialism in the same time. His idea was a special road to socialism with Austria characteristics which played a role as a bridge to unite the forces of socialist and promote the development of socialism in the world. In the other hand, it showed Marxism as an open and diversity one. According to Bauer's theories, it shows a correct attitude to Marxism. From the unity, it inspires the unity of party, the party, the domestic and even the forces of socialist. The special road to socialism with Austria characteristics can also give a reference to our practice and theoretical innovations of the socialist road with Chinese characteristics.
