Japan is a country of distinctive two sides, and which has been portrayed vividly by R Benedict as far as half a century ago. This two sides is not only showed in its national characters, if carefully observed, besides the ways Japanese treats people in their daily life, it is also demonstrated in international relations, Japanese diplomacy and national emotions as well.After roughly review of the Sino-Japan relations, this article focuses on two sides in Japan's Chinese policy especially during Koizumi administration, and the reason analysis on Japan's unusual diplomacy performance -"Cold politics, hot economics ". Through this thesis, the author concluded that two sides existed in the entire history of Japan's diplomacy, though obvious or vague at times. Japan usually first adhere,and come out to be independent and then being opposite in its diplomatic behaviors.Two sides in Japan's China policy is most outstanding during Koizumi's administration under the influence of Japanese tradition and new international factors. Not only China, the Asia Pacific area, but also other areas have diplomatic ties with Japan are supposed to pay more attention to the deep motives and the influential factors in Japan's diplomatic two sides. Correct understanding of Japan's contradictory diplomatic actions and making objective and accurate analysis on these actions will benefit these countries in taking initiative in dealing the diplomatic relations with Japan. This is also the realistic significance lies in this article.
