Japan's Un Diplomacy

As the most important international organization with great influence, UN plays acrucial role on promoting the world peace and security as well as the development of thewhole world. Japan's UN policy has deep background. Its policy has been influenced bothby the changing of its own national power and the international situation. Just like its diplomacy,Japan's UN policy is also influenced by the USA.Since Japan advanced the target to become a political great power in 1980s, it hasdone many diplomatic activities about UN, in order to enhance its influence in UN, andmakes this as the important step to heighten its international status and stride forward tothe political great power. After the Cold War, Japan makes it definitely to become thePermanent Member of the UN. And Japan makes this to be a symbol of becomingpolitical great power. For this target, it promotes the UN's innovation and carries outenergetically competition for the Permanent Member. Both the efforts of deleting the "oldhostile country's policy" and all kinds of activities under the name of the UN as well asproviding plenty of financial aids have enhanced the influence of Japan in the UN greatlywhich makes Japan get a quite well starts to become a permanent member.Being the Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council is the corecontent of Japan's UN diplomacy. Japan developed influential activities to strive for thepermanent membership of UNSC both on the 50 anniversary and the 60 anniversary ofUN's foundation. Though all of its efforts failed at last because of some limitations, theyare worthy to be analyzed. Especially the new government still struggle to make this goalcome to be true. What Japan has done in striking for the UNSC has great influence toChina, it needs us to reply gravely, and pay more attention to Japan's future diplomacy inthe UN.
