| With the favorable international environment to Taiwan authority at the end of the Cold War, the relations between EU and Taiwan authority made breakthroughs in certain fields, for example, members of EU sold sophisticated weapons to Taiwan in large scales, the exchanges of political figures between EU and Taiwan authority were much more than before, the Europe Parliament frequently passed bills on Taiwan Issue and the economic relations between them were strengthened day by day, etc. Though something new appeared in international situation after the middle of 1990s, the development in these relationships between EU and Taiwan authority never terminated, they continued to develop provided that EU made some changes in its policy toward Taiwan when compared with that of the beginning of 1990s, which is not a matter China, who has been striving hard to realize its reunification and protect its territorial integrity, can ignore. Thus this article mainly analyses the major development fields in the relations between EU and Taiwan and the important factors influencing their relations, and based on the two points mentioned above, this article means to depicts future and possible development trends of EU-Taiwan relationships in order to help people have a clear understanding of the international situations over Taiwan Issue.This article composes three parts, the first one introduces the major fields in which EU-Taiwan relations made great progresses, including economic and military relations and that of affairs in relation to politics. The second part mainly analyses factors influencing the development of EU-Taiwan relations with the hope o f uncovering the deep reasons of the evolution of EU-Taiwan relations , this part mainly refers to the influence of international-layer factors, China's peaceful development and rise and factors inside EU and Taiwan Authority. On the basis of previous analyses, the third part briefly argues about the possible development trend of EU-Taiwan relations. |
