Japan-us Alliance After The Cold War With The Situation In The Taiwan Strait

The thesis mainly studies the Japan-US alliance affecting the Taiwan-Strait situations. After Cold War, the Japan-US alliance has been playing special role in the Taiwan-Strait relationships. The thesis, beginning with the"Taiwan factor"in the evolution of the Japan-US alliance, states the contents and causes of quasi-alliance security cooperation among Japan, US and Taiwan, later significantly explores how Japan-US alliance influences Taiwan-Strait relationships and its effects. On these bases, the thesis finally probes into the dilemma Japan-US is facing and the measures China should take against Japan, US and Taiwan.Chapter One states how the Japan-US alliance rectified its Taiwan-Strait policy according to the development of Cold War during the era of the Cold War. The core of the policy is"Article Far East".Chapter Two analyses the"Taiwan-Straits Policy"in the process of consolidation of Japan-US alliance, and probes into the contents and causes of quasi-alliance security cooperation among Japan, US and Taiwan.Chapter Three explains what roles the Japan-US alliance plays in the conflicts on Chinese unification, arm race between Taiwan Straits and Confidence-Building Measures in Taiwan Straits. Under the circumstances Japan-US alliance could maintain the status quo.Chapter Four discusses the dilemma Japan-US are facing from the perspectives of Dual-Deterrence effects, orientation of US as well as"entrapment"and"abandonment"of alliance, and proposes some measures against Japan, US and Taiwan.The Final Chapter, judging the future of the Taiwan-Strait situations, points out that Japan-US military integration aiming at Taiwan-Strait situations, and the quasi-alliance among Japan, US and Taiwan will be strengthened. Later, it raises a standpoint that Taiwan-Strait situation is a"double-edged sword"influencing Japan-US alliance.
