The higher education in China is developing fast following the high speed development of Chinese economy and implement the stratagem of develop country with science and education. So there are many new challenges to the teaching staff in the higher education. For the teaching staff in student affair, how to cultivate large numbers of talents who are innovative and with practice competence is the principal subject. At present, most of the universities have implemented IT to facilitate the student affair. This research basing on the Decision Support System (DSS) and the practice of the higher education designs the student affair decision support system especially for UESTC.This paper firstly analyzes the content of student affair and summarizes the DSS theory from literatures. And then demonstrate feasibility for building this system ananalyze the demand framework for the conceptual system. At last, we present the rudiment student affair decision support system. This paper give the definition of the system as the student affair decision support system which is based on computer technology and network communication technology constitute some function mode including database, repository and so on.This paper concludes that the student affair decision support system should include the base structure and function of DSS. Meanwhile, the student affair decision support system as the application tool should actually support the staff for decision and ameliorate the information environment and knowledge structure then enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the student affair decision.
