With the development of the aged problems and fewer births, Japanese society has been put to a severe test. It is predicted that there might appear problems like serious insufficiency of labor force and collapse of the social labor insurance system that follows. As to these phenomena, the employment of large amount of the married females is undoubtedly an efficient counter-measure. Since the Equal Employment Opportunity Act was enforced 20 years ago, the environment around the female has been improved a lot, and the number of females involved in various social fields has been increased greatly, especially that of the married females.However, the ingrained division of labor according to gender in Japanese society, the disparity between the company's treatment in male and female, and the bringing up of children together with the support of parents are also very noticeable. Thus it is not an easy thing for the married females to deal with both the family and their work together very well.This thesis tries to account the problems in the Japanese married female employment through the investigation of their current employment situation. Meanwhile, the indispensable requirements for the married female to keep their employment are analyzed by means of the interview of several married females who have continuously worked.This thesis is composed of four chapters:Chapterl is about the current situation and features of the Japanese married female's employment, according to the statistical data.Chapter2 deals with the analysis or the reasons that promote and hinder the employment of Japanese married females from three levels of country, community and individuals put forward by KiyokoOkamura.Chapter3 is concerned with the influence of the married female's employment on the family.
