The Transportion Branch of Zhongyuan Oil Field is one of the traditional vital corporations of Puyang City, Henan Province.It has made great contributions to the economic development of the city. In recent years, it competed with other corporations not only in demestic market but also in international market.Based on the marketing investigation, this paper analyses its competency. The paper expects that people can understand its current situation and deeply analyses its competency.When analyses the enviroment of the industry it lies, this paper uses Porter's "diamond model". The competitive level of the industry is determined by five factors: current corporations; buyers; suppliers; substitute goods. It lies in a special industry which relays on Oil Industry and is difficult to enter. In fact many current corporations were formed in 1970s or 1980s. China's three Oil Companies are the main customers, while international demand is from main oil field of the world. When it explores international market, it will face competence from both domestic and international companies.The paper uses SWOT to locate its competency. The Strong Points ores ponding to foreign companies are labor cost; technology. For domestic companies the Strong Points are experience; assets. The Weak Points lie in management; institution; technology etc. At the same time, this paper deals with other two facets. The company should coherent to strategy, innovate its institutions, improve its management to enhance its competency.The basic condition of Zhongyuan Oil Field is introduced in the 1st section. Xinjiang Project Department was built to develop the market at home in 1996,Sudan Project Department in Africa was built to develop the international market, they all succeeded. Also, the development process of the Transportion Branch is analysesed.The development conditions of the oil field is mentioned from international\domestic respects, and the trend of the market demand is protected, the problems at present are analysesed.Porter's "diamond model" and SWOT theory are used to analysis the field's competency in the third section, at the same time, the advantages and defaults are projected.In the forth section, the transportion branch should get strong from the system\management\human resource\stratege\culture\character etc., so that the competency gets more enhance.
