| This paper focuses on the forming process and characteristics of the middle class in China. It argues that the middle class is of great significance to building a harmonious society. By briefing some helpful experiences from foreign countries, this dissertation provides certain effective suggestions to foster a society with an olive-type structure. Contextual analysis and historical comparison are implemented in this article. Based on careful analysis, this dissertation jumps to a conclusion that in current China the middle class has come into being and is gradually growing up, that it is playing a demonstrative role in the field of culture and functions as a puller for the development of economy and a protector for the social order. But with some problems intra-class, such as unsuitable scale, unreasonable structure and etc., what it has done is far from what we expect and what we need. Thus, Chinese government and social members have to take some effective measures, including economic, political, social and cultural ones, to care it and boost it. In this aspect, we can take some lessons form U.S.A, France as well as Japan. They lay stress on education, transformation of rural forces and social identification to the middle class respectively in their process of fostering middle class. Up to now, the central party and government in China set up a goal as building a harmonious socialist society, which makes the task of fostering middle class more and more urgent. Only when we carry out those effective policies above-mentioned will the middle class boom and a harmonious socialist society come into birth. |
