The research on tourist resource began from the end of I 970's in china. Researches have covered the concepts, classification, attributes and the evaluation of tourist resources.Researchers have achieved quite a lot encouraging results in the studies of tourist resources. But with the continual development of tourism activities and maturity of tourists, many new phenomena and new rules, as well as new problems, have arisen in the tourism market. As a consequence, the need to re-evaluate tourist resources in terms of concepts and applications stands Out, which justified the necessity of this thesis. Firmly based on the past researches on tourist resources, this paper is intended to answer two realistic questions:1.Do tourist resources that have elite cultural value definitely encompass value in the tourist market?2.How to further modify the model that is used to evaluate tourist resource? This thesis consists of the following six parts:1..Summary of the findings and deficiencies of past researches on tourist resources.2.Analysis of three related concepts: culture value, market value, and tourist value of a certain recource.3.A case study of the toursit value elite cultural resources.4.Modifications to the model currently used to evaluate tourist resources.5.An application of the modified model to the evaluation of tourist resource.6.Conclusions of this thesis. This thesis reached two conclusions:1.The market can establish a law of "bad coins repel the good coins" as the market advances automatically and intensively . It is possible that under this law elite culture may be repelled by~ mass culture.2.The root cause to repeat investment and development of tourist recourses is an inaccurate evaluation model, which uses quantitative analysis that is not compatible with tourists' aesthetic activities. The paper is meaningful in that it answered the question of whether elite culture absolutely encompasses tourist value. The answer was prepared on the basis of knowledge in the studies of culture, economics, psychology, sociology, and economical mathematics. Futhermore. the model used to evaluate tourist recourses was modified and improved as a result of thorough understanding of the concept of culture value, market value, and tourist value.
