Urbanization Is A Major Strategy To Resolve The Contradictions Of Urban And Rural

The urban and rural problem is an important theoretical and realistic one that any nation has to face and should overcome during its society and economy development. For subjective and objective reasons, China is a developing country with the urban and rural dual structure contradiction of typical Chinese characteristic. The incisive contradiction between urban and rural mainly lies in the backwardness of traditional rural section. Since the reform and open policy was carried out, the contradiction has been relaxed, but is not eradicated, and it has become expanded and affected and restrained the sustained, rapid and coordinated development of our society and economy seriously since the middle I 980s. The inefficient demand in nowadays economy, unreasonable economic structure, ever-increasing employment pressure, slow growth of peasants?earnings, etc, all are associated with the destroyed balance between urban and rural directly or indirectly. The contradiction between urban and rural dual structure has become the main one which restraint nowadays economy and society development. Therefore, to eliminate the contradiction efficiently as soon as possible has a realistic meaning to our modernization construction. The thesis believes that urbanization is one of the fundamental ways to solve this problem. It抯 necessary and important to take urbanization as a realistic strategy to remove the urban and rural contradiction. Furthermore, we should positively seek the Chinese characteristic way of urbanization. The thesis is composed of three parts. In the first part, the thesis mainly checks the concept of urban and rural dual structure, manages to give it a philosophic, definition and then lists various conducts of the contradiction. It also analyzes the subjective and objective reasons that cause the Chinese urban and rural contradiction, and dissect the contradiction抯 feature, history, current situation and influence. This part means to explain that China is a prototypic developing country with Chinese characteristic urban and rural dual structure co!~tradiction. The incisive contradiction exists mainly in seriously backward countryside. In the fields of economy, politics, culture etc, it badly affects and restrains our economy and society抯 sustained, rapid and coordinated development manifoldly and omnibearingly. The second part explains the meaning of urbanization. Based on the definition of urbanization, from the angles of urban and rural interactive mechanism in economy, politics, culture etc., of the reality and of the realization of the modernization, the thesis analyzes objectively and comprehensively that urbanization is the basic way to overcome the urban and rural contradiction. We must enforce our urbanization as a significant realistic strategy. In the third part. first from the angle of productivity, agriculture development, industrialization, commercialization and marketnization, the thesis expounds that urbanization is a general law of social development in a common and special, general and peculiar way. Then it points out that the Chinese urbanization has its own law. We should positively explore the Chinese characteristic way of urbanization by summing up worldwide historical experience during their urbanization and combining it together with our national conditions. At present, the way of Chinese characteristic urbanization should focus on the small and medium sized cities. We will ultimately manage to form an unbalanced. manifold, pluralized net system of urbanization in China, in which the small and medium sized towns can grow coordinately.
