According to Marxist thought, privilege is not spontaneous, but developed with private ownership and class. It is a kind of social and historical phenomenon existing in all societies including the slave society, feudal society, capitalist society and even a socialist society. As a result of the productivity and social background of the specific period, privilege is ubiquitous. Throughout the history, all the wise state leaders actively fought against the ideology of privilege. Lenin is a positive practitioner of the against-privilege idea and phenomenon. Studying Lenin’s against-privilege idea and researching the historical experience of Bolshevik party during that period will help us correctly understand the thought of privileges under the socialist system, improve the party’s leadership, and push forward the development of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. Therefore, it has far-reaching historical significance.Based on Marxist theory of materialism, using the methods and theories of philosophy, political science, history and other disciplines, this paper comprehensively explain the origin, nature and content of Lenin’s anti-privilege idea. It concludes the experience of Lenin’s fight against privilege and indicates that his theory o is meaningful to purify the Party and maintain the nature of our socialist society.Besides the abstract and conclusion, this paper is divided into three parts:The first chapter mainly illustrates the theoretical background and reality basis of Lenin’s anti-privilege idea. By studying the ideas of Marx, Engels and Plekhanov, it explains the background against which Lenin’s anti-privilege was formed. It also shows Lenin’s governing activities and the economic and social background of that time, which is the realistic basis of his theory. The part two explains the nature and content of Lenin’s anti-privilege idea. The nature of his idea is that a state’s power is from people. The rulers are people’s servants instead of people’s masters. Therefore, it is necessary to use people’s power to restrict a state’s power. Lenin organized a series of activities to purify the party, improve the party members’ quality and fight against corruption. The third part concludes the historical meaning of Lenin’s idea and it reflection on our modern society. Lenin’s anti-privilege thought laid a solid foundation of Soviet regiem and facilitated the social stability and economic development of that period of time. The historical experience indicates that in order to fight against the privilege in the modern socialist society, we have to be stick to the Party’s leadership, rule by law and improve the Party members’ quality. At the same time, we have to recognize that Lenin’s thought of against-privilege is neither perfect nor adapted to all the historical periods. And the inner-party democracy is far from to be institutionalized, standardized and legalized. However, we have to admit that Lenin’s thought of against privilege is extremely valuable, and it provides a more comprehensive theoretical basis for the construction of our inner-party democracy.
