In recent years, Easterlin Paradox has increasingly become serious with rapid economic development, and it has caused high attention to creating a happier society and wide concern on Marxist concept of well-being. For now, academia mainly interprets the relationships between happiness and “genus essence of man”, alienation, communism and human being’s needs in Manuscripts. However, the deficiency is that academia tends to interpret the happiness thought of Manuscripts according to its literal meaning and rarely analyzes its internal logic, methodological characteristics and spiritual essence, which makes it easier to misunderstand Marx’s original intention and more difficult to grasp its quintessence. In order to understand Marxist happiness thought more accurately and more profoundly and explain Easterlin Paradox thoroughly, this paper tries studying the happiness thought’s basic viewpoints, internal logic, methodological characteristics and spiritual essence by text analysis or by taking its words, context, stylistic structure into consideration. Then both its theoretical status and realistic significance is estimated. It’s thought that, in Manuscripts, Marx has used scientific abstract, class analysis, practice dialectics to analyze the workers’ three great evils and capitalists’ happiness in capitalist society and to discuss some basic characteristics of communist happiness on the basis of alienation labor theory. It starts with capitalist specific methods of production and intends to provide the direction and way for the proletarian revolution from their position, and private property is its core. It’s found that it has surpassed Marx’s former happiness thought, idealistic dialectic of Hegel and materialism of Feuerbach, and it is the beginning of Marxist happiness thought and plays an important role in interpreting Easterlin Paradox in this modern world. It’s suggested that academia should study happiness problem historically and specifically from the perspective of economy.
