The war in Afghanistan has entered its 1 1th year, which becomes the longest war that U.S. has participated in history. With the withdrawal of U.S. forces in the Iraq war, the core of U.S. counterterrorism returns to Afghanistan. The position of Afghanistan war is more prominent in the U.S. diplomatic and domestic political.Obama immediately announced the Afghanistan-Pakistan (AFPAK) Strategy when he took office. Then, Obama further elaborated the AFPAK Strategy in his West Point Speech and several policy reviews. Obama's Afghanistan Strategy has aroused widespread concern and heated debate.In this article, the author will focus on analyzing the Obama's strategy and policy on Afghanistan. Firstly, the author reviews the strategy evolution on Afghanistan since Obama administration took office, and analyzes the reasons for its change. Then, the author analyzes a number of detailed policies of Obama administration implemented on the current war in Afghanistan. Based on these, the author evaluates and analyses the Obama's strategy and policy on Afghanistan. This article comes to a preliminary conclusion that:the primary strategic goal of Obama's current Afghanistan Strategy is to withdraw from the battlefield in Afghanistan, the main task of Obama's current Afghanistan Strategy is to form suitable situation for its exit; Obama conducted a counterinsurgency strategy in Afghanistan under the name of counterterrorism strategy; Obama's Afghanistan Strategy had achieved success in general during the first half of Obama's term, however, it will face more challenges in future. The future changes of Obama's Afghanistan Strategy will depend on the situation in Afghanistan, the political environment of U.S. and the international situation.
