M ? A ? Bulgakov (1891 ~ 1940) is a Russian writer of genius in 20th century. His writing is full of mystery and legend, especially the masterpiece "Master and Margarita", which has attracted generations of readers, with ingenious ideas, bizarre plot, deep philosophy and the perfect art form, is known as "the peak of satirical literature, fantasy literature and critically modern literature" and "the classic of world literature in 20th century" in the west and Russia.In "Master and Margareta", by shaping the eternal image of Margaret and the devil of Wahlander who rescues the master and prays for the salvation of the whole society, Bulgakov shows his introspection to human's living condition under the drastic changes of social and historical environment, and explores how mankind can walk on the road of salvation when facing lack of faith and spirit crisis, emphasizing the critical importance of the spirit pillar on individual and society. The third part studies the theme's changes of devil in the 19th century and 20th century. Compared with Lermontov's evil image and Gogol's devil image, the uniqueness of Wahlander's image arises. The fourth part discusses eternal woman and the devil's status in the way of salvation and the reason, combining Margareta and Wahlander's salvation to the writer. In the end, it reaches the writer's salvation idea and the good-and-evil opinion.
