| After Anti-Japanese War broke out, the communist party of China called for establish the broadest anti-Japanese national united front, in order to mobilize all the anti-Japanese forces throughout the country. Obviously, women must include in it. Under the leadership of CPC, huge amount of Anti-Japanese Women Salvation Union had been built, they regardless of age, class, party, nationality and religion. In the Revolutionary base area of the North China, every village had built a Woman Salvation Union. Since then, the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement of women had a unified leadership institution. Alongside the Anti-Japanese mobilization, CPC had built base areas actively and carried out a variety of Anti-Japanese Democratic movement, in which change the traditional feudal marriage was the most important part. Due to historical reasons, it is common in this area that women are under repression. The inequality of marriage relationship is the main repression. This caused most women were suffering from the traditional feudal etiquette suppression, even endured all kinds of physical abuse, they suffered both in mind and body. In order to change this situation, Woman Salvation Union should shoulder the responsibility of protecting the women, and participate in the base area revolutionary of marriage relationship.By interview and investigation, Women Salvation Union publicized the marriage regulation of the border region government, discovered the actual problems in marriages, and given victims legal protections, while published the abusers. Meanwhile, it also trained and promoted women cadres-some of whom were urban intellectuals, others were women who broke out the feudal bondage-to enrich the Anti-Japanese group. As a member of the union, they are not only the winners of the Marriage Reform, but also the communicators who educated people how to carry out the new marriage regulation. Furthermore, Women Salvation Union encouraged women to engage in the production, which alleviated the difficulties in livelihood, improved women’s family status and economic status. This was propitious to build harmonious and stable marriage ties. In the process of solving disputes in marriage, with the help of the border region government and the courts, Women Salvation Union could protect the victims effectively. Compared the similarities and differences between Women Salvation Union, government and the courts, we can find their different functions in the Marriage Reform:Women Salvation Union is closer to the masses than others, it is on dominant position in the reform. With the deepening of the Marriage Reform, a part of the potential productivity was released, and this strengthened the economy of north China. However, due to the limitation of the times and Women Salvation Union itself, some cadres took the attitude that against the objective facts to deal with problems, even avoid disputes. To some extent, this not only made damages to the rights and interests of women, but also fed the arrogance of the abusers who were in the traditional marriage mode. Besides, Women Salvation Union also faced all kinds of resistance in the base areas’Marriage Reform. But why could Women Salvation Union play two kinds of roles-’protector’’conspirator’-in marital conflicts? The reasons are as follows: enlargement of the construction of the United Front Thought, the government’s policy guidance and women cadres are easily influenced by the feudal ideas which are hidden in the wedding customs and marriage morality.Overall, the development of Marriage Reform in the North China revolutionary base can’t carry out without the help of Women Salvation Union. Although there existed difficulties, the general trend was propitious to establish equal and harmonious family relationship, and was good at the stable development of the women’s movement, Even lay the foundation for the reform of the marriage system after liberation. |
