In Chinese Contemporary Oil Painting " Cartoon Style "

As a unique art form, "cartoon" now has been accepted and loved by more and more people. Gradually, cartoon image gains people's attention and appears in large numbers of Chinese contemporary oil paintings. By the formation of a special style, cartoon won the support of critics and the market.This "cartoon-rush" in recent years attracted not only many people's attention, but also more and more art critics', and they began to study this new style which belongs to Chinese contemporary oil paintings. In their study, the majority of them are inclined to the cartoon-style's social background and the works of this style's market prospects. Then, while absorbing the results of the previous research, this paper will focus on the rationality of the cartoon-style which appeared in China and the performance of this style.This central element of this paper is the research of the cartoon style in Chinese contemporary oil painting. This paper specifically explores the root cause and implications of cartoon-style in Chinese contemporary oil painting, as the consumer culture, popular culture and Chinese traditional culture become the foundation for artists artistic language today. This paper will first start from the concept of cartoons, the, mainly discusses the reasonable and the general features of the cartoon style in Chinese contemporary oil painting. And it exposes the achievement that cartoon style has won until now, thus analyzes the development of this style under the current environment. Finally it makes a summary for the cartoon style in Chinese contemporary oil painting.
