| This thesis discusses Cezanne's art from the viewpoint of autonomy of art. Combined with paintings by Cezanne, we analyze its characteristic from the artistic ideas and painting techniques. Focusing on the painter's artistic concept, we re-interpret his art, so as to explore transformation of Western art arising from the concept of Cezanne's art and artistic works. The thesis has analyzed the reasons which produce the Cezanne drawing art, the drawing characteristic, and exploration for the artistic autonomy revolution from four sections. It has discussed the modern value of autonomy of art, and then has explained the art of Cezanne played a major role in art transition. The first section describes how the traditional Western paintings imitate the nature. Since Cezanne, he has broken paintings away from imitating nature by his own unique artistic concept and aesthetics thoughts. Art is no longer imitating nature, but showing the artist's awareness and understanding of nature. Cezanne's art conception is the result of the interaction of various historical and cultural factors. The occurrence of modern art is a major change of western art from the "imitation of nature" to be "art autonomy".The second section focuses on the modern value of art autonomy, analyzing the revolution of western art and the combination of art and life, while the theme and service function of the painting is relegated to a secondary position. The third section discusses about the efforts to create a unique picture structure. He broke through the old fixed-point perspective to describe things, but adopt the concept of multi-point perspective to depict still life, landscapes and figures, in order to highlight the cubic effect of them in a three-dimensional space and show a good effect of its shape with the help of warm and cold colors to make it appear more vivid. In the observation of nature and art practice, he forms his own personal favor by observing, thinking, imagination and creativity, i.e. "It's a must to use the cylinder, sphere, and the cone to deal with nature." This idea makes his works have characteristics of creativity, summary, subjectivity, autonomy, structure, order, and reconstruction etc.The fourth section speaks that Cezanne's art conception has influenced and initiated western modern art. Cezanne abandoned the traditional art concepts and rules, created works on his own independent observation and reflection, shifted his attention to show his own subjective world, depicted object in the view of structure, and had a tremendous impact on modern western art genres, such as Fauvism, Cubism, and Expressionism etc. |
