With reference to the theory of cognitive linguistics and text linguistics, and based on the theory foundation of the valence grammar, the construction grammar and the "three dimensional" grammar, this thesis analyzes the syntax and the semantics of reversible causative sentences, summarizes the sentence semantics of the mentioned causative sentences, and to some degree furthers the research on the syntax structure and the construction semantics of such type of sentences. It investigates the restriction conditions of the reversible causative sentences in the text environment, and summarizes some new characteristics of this type of sentences. The thesis consists of six chapters and it is organized as follows:The first chapter is introduction. It gives a brief to the object of the research and the theoretical, methodological, and practical meaning of the research. The second chapter is the literature review of the reversible causative sentences. This chapter will review and summarize the present studies and various analyses on the generation and development of the reversible causative sentences in the following aspects:the definition, the bound category, the syntax analysis, the characteristics of the semantic structure, the motivation of the generation of the syntax, and the sentence semantics, etc.The third chapter gives a grammatical-syntactical analysis on the grammartical characteristic of the reversible causative sentences. Through the grammatical-syntactical perspective, the author of this thesis analyzes the influence and the hierarchical characteristic of the causative event which begins the sentence. By dividing the corresponding result ingredients into three types, the author of this thesis makes an investigation of the influence that the marked words will make on the subjective quantity of the result ingredients. The semantic characteristics of the verb and the process that the auxiliaries "De" and "Le" influence the transferring effect to the anterior segment will be analyzed. The fourth chapter is about the sentence semantics of the mentioned causative sentences. At first, the author of this thesis analyses the sentence semantics of the mentioned causative sentences and the factors responsible for them as well. Then, the interrelated relationship between the sentence semantics and the components of the sentences are investigated with the emphasis on the integration of the sentences types and the verbs, and the roles that the ingredients of the sentence structure play in the sentence semantics. At last, the role of causative object in the forming this type of sentences are analyzed. The fifth chapter describes the restriction conditions of the text that generate the reversible causative sentences. It investigates the syntax structure of these sentences from the text environment, and analyzes the restriction effects of the text environment which contributes to the forming of the sentences. Especially it concentrates on investigating the Zero-anaphora of such type of sentences. The last chapter presents a summary of the main conclusions and summarizes the merits and demerits of this dissertation.
