Causative Aspects Of Syntactic And Semantic Interpretations

"Causative" is one of the important grammar areas, which is also one of the hot issues of linguistics. However, the current causative research is neither systematic nor comprehensive. As a result, causative phenomenon has not been established yet as a grammatical category. In response to this, the thesis will talk about the interface problem of syntax and semantics. From the viewpoint of the combination of syntax and semantics, the paper gives the causative category a new definition. Then it integrates form with meaning, static research with dynamic research, and analyzes "causative" respectively on the areas of grammar and pragmatics. The English causative construction and Chinese causative construction are also made a comparison, which is designed to reflect its value. Finally, on the basis of linguistic analysis, causative research will be leveled to a high degree of philosophy of language. Furthermore, the paper proves that causative phenomenon can reveal people (the speaker, the causer and the causee) and the human world (causative situation).
