In the 20th century seventies and eighties, when the western art development was diversified, a new form of painting made rapid development first in Germany and Italy. And then it spread throughout Europe and the United States. This new painting evolved into a global art movement. Its appearance made the western modern art out of its slump, and into a new twist and revival. This is referred to as the western 1980s'New Expressionist'movement.This painting movement seems to have a blossom trend. There are various kinds of names in the development process. It was called'new expressionist'in Germany,'the new spirit'in Britain,'the new painting'in the United States,'the new image of freedom'in France and 'Transavanguardia'painting in Italy. They all became important art school. They respect the law of art development, and think highly of finding the favourable factors for present artistic creation from the historical heritage. These schools are inseparable with the artistic trends in whole world and transition of artistic pattern. Among them,'Italian Transavanguardia'has crucial influence and is authoritative. The theorist Archie Benito Oliva played an important role in this movement. He predicted the achievement of'Transavanguardia'artists, praised them that they find the new possibilities of painting development and affirmed they acrossed different artistic styles and used the expressive presentation.'Transavanguardia'painting obtained vigorous development and expansion, play an essential role in the whole artistic world.This thesis mainly tried to analyze the 1970s and 1980s Italy frame painting regression, which is Italy'Transavanguardia'painting, through discussing the art of'Italy Transavanguardia'art representative Francesco Clement.'Transavanguardia'is one of the post-modernism art schools rised in Italy. It is the term of western new expressionist in Italy. Its painting characteristics is generally the same with western new expressionist. The author choosed Francesco Clement as the breakthrough poin. Because his art is most typical and most valuable for academic.He is the most successful and most talented'Transavanguardia'painter. His art involved oil paintings, watercolor paintings, frescoes, color powder pictures and so on. His painting creations rich in originality and sense of humor.There are three sections in the thesis. In the first section, we discussed the significance of western frame painting regression, introduced the general formation background of western new expressionist, which focus on the formation of'Transavanguardia'painting. In the second section, we analyzed and discussed the naming of'Transavanguardia'painting by critics Oliva, elaborated the Clement artist, and analyzed the cases. In the third section, we illuminated the impact on Chinese art by'Transavanguardia'and new expressionist and its limitations.The development process of'Transavanguardia'painting which is represented by Francesco Clement is valuable for Chinese art development as reference, and has important implications for Chinese contemporary art development. This paper demonstrated the impact on Chinese art and typically Chinese contemporary art by new expressionist, especially'Transavanguardia'painting, and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of this expression. Actually, these are refered to establish our nation's contemporary culture. The final purpose of this thesis is to give us inspriation in such aspect.
