Idiom Use And Specification

Idioms are the main component in the Chinese lexical system. Chinese idioms have rich allusions, profound implications and graceful form. The correct use of Chinese idioms can heighten the effect of expression. Conversely, the random incorrect use and doctoring up the idioms are not only destructive to its purity, but detrimental to the positive development of the lexical system. This paper has been discussed from the flexible and improper use of idioms, the formation of new sense and standard Chinese idioms. Through the analysis of language materials, it generalizes various types of Chinese idioms uses and its existing problems, summarizes the principle and means of idiom standardization. This paper will guide people to use Chinese idioms in a correct way.
