With the economic and cultural development, people's consumptions are becoming more and more diverse. In the fierce market competition, the winners of the products are based on their grasps on consumers' value orientation being very accurate. Diverse consumer culture promotes diversity in design. And to look back in the history of good products, good designs, all of them process the marks of their eras. Therefore, the richness and diversity in product (design), the discussion of the product's era and its feel, are necessary for designers and businesses nowadays! Currently, most domestic businesses (China) focus more of their attention on products' designs and functions; As for the color and texture of the product, they either approach them as simple decorative maneuvers and ideas, or just simply not to pay enough attention to them at all. Currently within the field of domestic industrial design, there are numerous experts doing research on colors of products. Their research more focus on the analysis of consumer's taste in colors and points of views on fashions of popular trends, these studies and explorations definitely will provide good guidance for developing new designs.In this aritical, how to "shape" the feel of product's era will be explored, using color; texture as the starting points. Combining design history, contemporary literature, graphical evidence, this paper will analyze the most iconic designs from every eras in the last hundreds of years; Selectively analyzing the most representative contemporary designs; extracting the characteristics of contemporary ideals of color and texture. The experiment based on the induction and analysis (from previous researches):Select ancient clocks as the object of the experiment--- With the same basic shape and function, through changes of the material, color and texture, three new clocks will be designed. Using the elements of the characteristic of eras of the clocks after its alternation, the feel of its era will be reflected. Which further proves that by analyzing the characteristics of the evolvement of the products from the perspective of color and texture, designers can become better at grasping the sense of times.
