Followed by the rapid economic growth, dramatic urban expansion, innovative public aesthetic sensibility, Chinese people have boosted to a new stage of spiritual input. As one of the most important civil arts, mural painting is encountering a new outlook of development. Given that the function of public space has be more diversified, the public art's boundary has be more expanded, the culture of the West and the East has be more combined and the new technique and material have be more implemented, the traditionally defined mural painting hardly satisfies all those situation upon. Therefore the necessity of developing a new language of contemporary mural art becomes a prime goal of the mural artists in order to step into the same row with architects, landscape designers and government officers. This article focuses on the discussion of how the new mural painting should present itself together with the contemporary public art and accordingly brings the attention of mural artists'and associated government's to the quality of public environmental art. All these are targetting to the optimal multi-functionism and the superior pluralism that promote an artistically ideal public environment. Let mural painting take the serious social roles of decorating the city, enlightening human being and succeeding the culture for a promising urban improvement.
