New Style Of Modern Music Album Cover Design Of The Technological Age

Music album artworks are the indispensable spiritual consumer goods in the modern society, and it is also one kind of packaging design with rich cultural contents and artistic values. Over half a century evolution, modern music album artworks have transformed. It presented unprecedented artistic styles in the 21st century which is called the high technology-driven era. These new artistic styles genuinely describe the image of the contemporary society and depict the portrayal of contemporaries' emotional feelings.This paper is divided into six chapters, that is, introduction; the evolutions of modern music and its album cover design caused by the development of science and technology; the impacts of the new social formation and culture on album artworks; new design styles of album covers; the visual characteristics of album cover design, and the creative concept of album artworks.Specifically, this paper firstly looks at the importance of this topic; the relevant theories; the aim for this research; contents; analysis and methods; and the key features and values of the research. Then, it goes on to review and analyze the evolutions of the contemporary music and its album artworks from the middle to the end of 20th century. Based on the research findings, it can be argued that the development of science and technology has generated significant influences on music and its album art.Next, the paper discusses the close relationship between new social formations, culture and the contemporary music album art. Particularly, in the modern society, factors such as the development of science and technology, and the changes of cultural and aesthetic concepts may affect in the album cover design industry. In addition, five new different types of artistic styles of album art in the 21st century are identified, which reflects the characteristics of the current era. Finally, the paper discusses the features of visual elements and creative concepts in modern music album art through analyzing and synthesizing abundant recent album artworks. Based on the solid research, it shows that the influence of the advanced science and technology contributes to the emergence of new styles of modern music album art, and reflects the new social philosophy.
